Solution
A crater is defined as an abrupt, almost circular depression formed by the eruption of volcanic material. In the context of a volcano, the crater is the opening at the top of the volcanic vent or neck through which lava, gases, and other volcanic ejecta come out during an eruption. Essentially, it is the mouth of the volcano. The crater is usually circular and forms as a result of volcanic activity.
