Solution
A “side out” occurs when the serving side loses a rally and, as a result, loses the right to continue serving. The serve then passes to the opponent. In doubles, this traditionally meant rotating service between partners and switching service sides, but in modern rally scoring, the concept mainly refers to the change of serve after losing a rally.
