Solution
The general-purpose registers BC, DE, and HL can operate either as six 8-bit registers or as three 16-bit register pairs, depending on the instruction being executed. The HL register pair, referred to by Intel as a data pointer, is commonly used for address referencing. Although some instructions use the BC and DE register pairs as address pointers, they are generally employed as general-purpose data registers.
