Major justifications behind the Directive Principles:

1. Establishment of Social and Economic Democracy: DPSPs aim to complement Fundamental Rights by establishing social and economic democracy, ensuring that justice is not just political but also economic and social. They promote a fairer distribution of wealth and resources. Articles 38, 39, and 41–46 explicitly advance economic security and justice.
2. Guiding Principles for Governance: They serve as policy guidelines for the government, helping shape laws and administrative actions to align with constitutional values. Though not enforceable, they are fundamental in the governance of the country.
3. Realisation of the Preamble’s Objectives: The DPSPs help in achieving the ideals set out in the Preamble, such as justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity. They give concrete form to these objectives by directing the State toward social welfare.
