Primary socialisation: The most critical process of socialisation happens in the early years. This learning in the early years is termed 'primary socialisation. Primary socialisation takes place in infancy and childhood and involves intense cultural learning. A child gets acquainted with values, customs, behavioural norms and manners. It is an informal process.
Example: Family is the main agent of primary socialisation. Peer groups and neighbourhoods are also seen as primary socialising agencies.
