Solution

The Earth moves around the Sun along a nearly circular path called its orbit. The Sun’s gravitational force pulls the Earth towards the Sun and provides the centripetal force needed to keep it in this path. The Earth’s speed is nearly constant, but its direction keeps changing, so its velocity changes and it is accelerated. The Earth takes about one year to complete one revolution around the Sun.
