Infrared (IR) radiation is a region of the electromagnetic spectrum that lies just beyond the red end of visible light. It consists of waves with wavelengths longer than visible red light but shorter than microwaves, spanning from approximately 800 nm to 1 mm. It is invisible to the human eye but can be felt as heat.
