Explain how the speed of sound can be determined by the method of echo.

Sound produced from a position at a specified distance d, at least 50 m from the reflecting surface, is required to calculate the speed of sound in the air. A stopwatch records the amount of time that passes before the echo leaves the source of the sound. The following formula is then used to determine the speed of sound.
