Solution
Skills a hockey player must possess, are:
- Drive: A drive is used to pass the ball to a teammate or take a shot on goal from a distance. Take this hit with both hands on the top of the stick. The player should be perpendicular to their goal and keep the ball at a stick’s length away from their body. The player performs a backswing higher than the middle of the chest, making contact with the ball on the down swing and aiming the stick towards the target.
- Sweep: Sweep hits are commonly employed on turf fields. This technique is generally used for long field passes and shots on goal. The sweep pass starts with the body perpendicular to the target. The ball will start over a stick length away from the body, off the back foot. Sweep hits with the ball closer to the center of the body provide less power.
- Chip: A chip hit involves hitting the ball from the top or back, causing it to rise rapidly and produce under-spin. This prevents the ball from running when it lands.
