(−2a − 5b)2

Let’s treat [(−2a − 5b)2] as (2a + 5b)2

Then, here a = 2a, b = 5b

Thus,

(2a + 5b)2 = (2a)2 + 2(2a)(5b) + (5b)2

4a2 + 2(10ab) + 25b2

∴ 4a2 + 20ab + 25b2
