Draw the graph for the equation, given below:
3x + 2y = 6

Solution

3x + 2y = 6
⇒ 2y = 6 − 3x
∴ y = `(6 - 3x)/(2)`

When x = 0;  
y = `(6 - 3 xx 0)/(2)`
= `(6 - 0)/(2)`
= 3

When x = 2; 
y = `(6 - 3 xx 2)/(2)`
= `(6 - 6)/(2)`
= 0

When x = 4; 
y = `(6 - 3 xx 4)/(2)`
= `(6 - 12)/(2)`
= −3

Y 3 0 −3

Plotting these points we get the required graph as shown below:
