Question
Does a semiconductor diode and resistor have similar electrical properties?
Long Answer

Solution
A semiconductor diode and a resistor are both two-terminal electrical components that offer resistance to the flow of current and dissipate electrical energy as heat. However, their electrical behaviour is different: a resistor generally obeys Ohm’s law and has nearly constant resistance, whereas a diode is a non-ohmic device whose resistance depends strongly on the direction and magnitude of the applied voltage. A diode conducts mainly in forward bias and offers very high resistance in reverse bias; therefore, it acts as a rectifier.
