Solution

  • Prejudice is also influenced by psychological factors, these are things about how people think and feel. One important reason is the way people like to simplify the world. To make sense of many people and groups, our minds create categories. But this can lead to stereotypes, which are oversimplified and often unfair ideas about others.
  • Another factor is frustration. When people feel angry or powerless, they may blame other groups for their problems. This is called scapegoating. For example, if someone loses their job, they might blame immigrants instead of other reasons.
  • Personality also plays a role. Some people have an authoritarian personality. They like strict rules and see the world as “us vs. them,” making them more likely to be prejudiced.
  • Finally, prejudice can also come from fear or insecurity. People may feel threatened by those who are different and develop negative attitudes to feel safer or more superior.
  • These psychological factors work together to shape how prejudice forms and continues in people’s minds.
