1. Air Pollution: Caused by vehicular emissions, industrial production, burning of fossil fuels, and release of harmful gases like carbon monoxide, sulphur dioxide, nitrogen oxides, hydrocarbons, and particulate matter. Effects include respiratory problems, heart diseases, cognitive defects, and damage to plants and buildings.
2. Water Pollution: Due to discharge of untreated sewage, industrial effluents, and agricultural runoff containing pesticides and fertilizers into water bodies. This causes waterborne diseases in humans, depletion of dissolved oxygen, death of aquatic life, and foul-smelling polluted water.
3. Soil Pollution: Results from dumping of solid waste, use of pesticides, industrial waste disposal, and presence of radioactive substances. It adversely affects soil fertility, contaminates food crops, and can cause health issues like cancer due to pollutants like radioactive iodine.
