Solution
Even after the Civil War and the end of slavery, black Americans faced discrimination in the following areas:
- The black people were not allowed to use their right to vote.
- Black students had no choice but to attend separate schools specifically set aside for them.
- They faced segregation in restaurants, on trains, in other modes of transportation, and in hotels.
- They had to work in low-wage jobs and were often employed in unskilled work.
- They weren’t allowed to join political groups or trade unions either.
- The culture of the black people was also not respected.
