Basis of Difference Plasma Lymph
Location Plasma is the liquid matrix component of blood that is found inside the blood vessels. Lymph is the tissue fluid that is collected inside the specialized lymph vessels.
Colour It is characteristically straw-coloured or faint yellow. It is completely colourless or pale yellow.
Proteins It contains a higher concentration of plasma proteins. It contains a much lower concentration of proteins.
White Blood Cells (WBCs) It carries all types of suspended leucocytes in normal numbers. It mainly contains a high concentration of lymphocytes.
RBCs and Platelets Red blood cells and platelets are present in high numbers suspended in it. Red blood cells and platelets are normally completely absent in it.
Major Role It transports nutrients, respiratory gases, hormones, and metabolic wastes. It returns excess tissue fluid to circulation, absorbs fats, and supports immunity.
