Solution

Sr. No. Parasitism Predation
1. Parasitism is an interaction between two species in which one (parasite) obtains food in ready-made form from the other living organism (host). Predation is a kind of direct food relationship between two species of animals in which one (predator) captures and feeds on the other (prey).
2. The parasite usually lives in or on its host without killing it.  The predator is free-living and kills the prey to feed on it.
3. Parasitism is a close association where the parasite depends on the host for food. Predation involves actively hunting, catching, and killing other species for food.
4. Parasites derive nourishment without the immediate death of the host. Predator kills the prey upon which it feeds.
5. Parasites generally live on or inside their host organism. Predators are not obligatorily dependent on a single prey for survival.
