Solution

A typical monosporic embryo sac develops from one functional megaspore and is seven-celled and eight-nucleate. At the micropylar end, the egg apparatus consists of one egg cell and two synergids; the synergids have a filiform apparatus that helps guide the pollen tube. At the chalazal end are three antipodal cells. The large central cell contains two polar nuclei, which may fuse to form the secondary nucleus.
