Solution
Mountains are primarily formed through tectonic processes and volcanic activity. When tectonic plates collide, the Earth's crust is either folded or faulted, pushing the land upwards to form fold mountains. This process, known as orogeny, leads to the creation of large mountain ranges over millions of years, like the Himalayas. Additionally, mountains can also form through volcanic activity, where magma from beneath the Earth's surface erupts, cooling and solidifying to build up layers of rock that form volcanic mountains, such as Mount Fuji in Japan.
