Two main categories of intelligence are identified by Raymond Cattell's multi-factor theory of intelligence:
- Fluid intelligence

Fluid intelligence is the ability to solve problems, believe in general, and adapt to changing conditions. It is thought to be primarily related and peak in early adulthood instead of decreasing with age.
