Solution
A data series is a collection of related data points or values that are plotted together on a chart. These values are extracted directly from a single row or a single column of data within an Excel worksheet. In a chart, each data series is assigned a unique colour, pattern, or asset marker to distinguish it from other data sets. For instance, in a column chart, a single data series is represented by a set of vertical bars of identical colour, whereas in a line chart, it is displayed as a single continuous line. The names of these data series are clearly labelled in the chart’s legend so readers can easily identify what each colour represents. Furthermore, different chart types handle data series differently; a standard pie chart can only plot one data series at a time, while column, line, and doughnut charts can display multiple data series simultaneously, allowing for multi-layered business comparisons.
