Solution

An equinox is the time when the noon sun is directly overhead at the equator, and the sun’s rays are received there perpendicularly. On this day, the lengths of day and night are equal all over the earth. The two equinoxes are the spring equinox (or vernal equinox) around March 22 in the northern hemisphere and the autumnal equinox around september 23, with the seasons reversed in the southern hemisphere.
