Solution

Lyophobic colloids are colloidal systems in which the dispersed particles have little or no affinity for the dispersion medium and do not readily form sols by simple mixing. These sols require special techniques for their preparation and are relatively unstable, often coagulating on heating, agitation, or addition of electrolytes. They are also known as irreversible sols because the coagulated particles cannot be redispersed by simply mixing with the dispersion medium.
