Solution
Block mountains are large blocks of the Earth’s crust that have been uplifted or tilted due to tension and faulting caused by volcanic and diastrophic activities. These mountains usually have flat summits and steep, wall-like sides. The crustal blocks between faults may slide down, forming low-lying rift valleys (grabens), while the adjoining raised blocks are called horsts or block mountains.
