Solution

Life span development means how a person grows and changes from birth to old age. Many factors, called determinants, affect this process. These factors work together to shape how we grow physically, mentally, emotionally, and socially.

1. Biological Factors:

  • These come from our genes and body.
  • We inherit traits like height, skin color, or risk for some diseases from our parents.
  • Our brain and hormones affect how we grow and behave at different stages, like during puberty or old age.
  • If someone has poor health or a disability, it may slow down their development.
  • Example: A child with poor nutrition may not grow as tall or learn as quickly.

2. Psychological Factors:

  • These include how we think, feel, and behave.
  • Intelligence helps us learn and solve problems.
  • Personality affects how we react to people and situations.
  • Mental health (like stress or depression) can make learning and relationships harder.
  • Example: A confident and happy student may do better in school than a shy or anxious one.

3. Environmental Factors:

  • These are things around us, like family, school, and society.
  • A loving family helps a child feel safe and grow well.
  • Good education helps in learning and building future careers.
  • Our culture and values teach us how to behave.
  • Poverty can limit access to food, healthcare, or school.
  • Example: A child from a rich, educated family may get better opportunities than one from a poor background.

4. Life Events:

  • Certain events or experiences in life can change our development.
  • Good events like getting a scholarship or winning a competition boost confidence.
  • Bad events like losing a loved one or parents’ divorce can cause stress and delay growth.
  • Example: A child who loses a parent may become emotionally disturbed or struggle in school.

5. Heredity and Environment Work Together:

  • Our genes (heredity) give us potential, but we need a good environment to grow fully. Both are equally important.
  • Example: A child may be born smart, but without proper schooling, that intelligence may not develop.
