Solution
- \[\ce{AlN + 3H2O -> Al(OH)3 + NH3 ^}\]
- \[\ce{2NH3 + 3PbO -> 3Pb + 3H2O + N2}\]
- When ammonia is in excess,
\[\ce{2NH3 + 3Cl2 -> N2 + 6HCl}\]
\[\ce{6NH3 + 6HCl -> 6NH4Cl}\]
\[\ce{8NH3 + 3Cl2 -> N2 + 6NH4Cl}\]
When chlorine is in excess,
\[\ce{NH3 + 3Cl2 -> 3HCl + NCl3}\] - \[\ce{2NH3 + CO2 -> NH2CONH2 + H2O}\]
- Ammonia acts as a reducing agent, as explained by equation (c).
- Urea, the nitrogenous fertiliser, is prepared from equation (d).
Conditions for urea preparation: High pressure (140 – 200 atm) and high temperature (170 – 190°C).
