Solution

Given:

  • AB = 4.2 cm
  • BC = 5.5 cm
  • CD = 4.8 cm
  • AD = 5 cm
  • ∠B = 45°

Steps of construction:

  1. Draw a line segment BC = 5.5 cm.
  2. At point B, construct an angle of 45°.
  3. From B along the arm of the angle, mark point A such that AB = 4.2 cm.
  4. With A as center, draw an arc with radius AD = 5 cm.
  5. With C as center, draw an arc with radius CD = 4.8 cm.
  6. The intersection of the two arcs is point D.
  7. Join AD and CD to complete the quadrilateral ABCD.

Quadrilateral ABCD is constructed with the given sides and angle using the above steps.
