Solution

Mental Age (MA) = 16 years

Chronological Age (CA) = 14 years.

$$IQ = \frac{MA}{CA} \times 100$$

$$IQ = \frac{16}{14} \times 10$$

$$IQ = 1.1428 \times 100 = 114.28$$

$$IQ \approx 114.3$$

Since the mental age (16 years) is greater than the chronological age (14 years), the IQ is above 100. An IQ of about 114 places the child in the 'High average' category (110–119).
