Can’t we end the Partition of India and Pakistan the way they did in Germany? I want to have breakfast in Amritsar and lunch in Lahore!

The reunification of Germany cannot be applied directly to India and Pakistan. Germany was divided after the Second World War and later reunited under particular political and international circumstances. Partition created two sovereign countries, caused deep communal violence and displaced about 80 lakh people. India and Pakistan have developed separate political identities and continue to have unresolved disputes. However, peaceful relations, easier visas, trade, cultural exchanges and cross-border travel can help reduce hostility and heal the division of hearts.
