  2. Chlorine has higher oxidising power and can displace bromine and iodine from their salt solutions.
  3. Iodine cannot displace chlorine from NaCl because chlorine is above iodine in the reactivity series of halogens.

Therefore, iodine cannot oxidise Cl ions to form chlorine.
