Solution
S.P. = ₹ 405
Loss% = 25
S.P., when there is a loss, is given by
S.P. = C.P. × `[1 - "loss%"/100]`
∴ 403 = C.P. × `[1 - 25/100]`
∴ 403 = `(100-25)/100 xx "C.P."`
∴ C.P. = `(405 xx 100)/75`
= `(405 xx 4)/3`
= 135 × 4
= 540
∴ The cost price of the book is ₹ 540.
