It examines every activity, right from purchasing raw materials to delivering the final product to the customer. The main aim of the method study is to reduce production costs and improve the quality of goods, thereby increasing customer satisfaction. It helps in deciding the proper sequence of operations and the effective use of men, machines, and materials. Techniques like process charts and operations research are used for this purpose. For example, Taylor introduced scientific management, and the assembly line system was developed through method study, a method successfully used by Ford Motor Company.
