When air is pumped into a flat balloon, the pressure applied by the cycle pump is transmitted equally in all directions through the air inside the balloon. According to Pascal’s principle, pressure applied to an enclosed fluid is transmitted equally and undiminished in all directions. Therefore, the balloon expands in all directions as more air is pumped into it.
