Solution

The baker, also called the pader, was an important part of Goan life. He sold different kinds of bread that were popular in Goan homes. Children were not interested in his songs or the usual bread loaves. They were more excited about the bread-bangles and the special sweet bread he sold.

The children could recognize his arrival from the “jhang, jhang” sound of his bamboo stick. As soon as they heard it, they would run to meet him. They gathered around his basket but had to wait until the maid bought the bread for the house. After that, they were allowed to choose their favorite bread-bangles. The bread-bangles made them happy and eager for the baker’s daily visit.
