Tissue culture is the process of ex vivo proliferation of cells or tissues in a sterile, nutrient-dense medium. During tissue culture experiments, a medium composed of liquid, solid, or gel-like agar is utilised. This medium provides the essential nutrients and energy required for tissue culture techniques. Various procedures must be performed during tissue culture, including primary treatment, reproduction or multiplication, shoot and root formation, primary hardening, and secondary hardening. Tissues are extracted from the source plant, and all procedures are conducted in an aseptic medium within the laboratory.
