The Second Battle of Tarain (1192) saw Muhammad Ghori defeat Prithviraj Chauhan; Chauhan was captured and killed after failing to secure other Rajput support. Ghori’s victory ended major Rajput resistance in northern India and opened the way for Muslim rule under viceroy Qutbuddin Aibak.
