2. Orphaned young: his father ʿAbdullah died before his birth, and his mother Amina died when he was a child; he was raised first by his grandfather ʿAbd al-Muṭṭalib and then by his uncle Abu Ṭalib.
3. Worked as a shepherd and later as a merchant; earned a reputation for honesty and was known as al‑Amin (“the trustworthy”).
4. Married Khadija when he was about 25; they had children (including Fatima).
5. Spent time in solitary prayer and reflection at the Cave of Hira near Mecca; around 610 CE, he received the first revelation that began his prophethood.
