Solution

Soil is formed from bedrock through a slow process called weathering. Due to heat, cold, wind, and rain, the bedrock breaks into smaller pieces. Microbes, insects, roots of trees, and animals like rodents help in breaking the rocks further. Slowly, these small pieces mix with decaying plants and animals to form fertile soil.

  1. Humus is abundant with nutrients.
  2. Soil can be used by plants.
  3. The soil is immature and under development.
  4. The soil, which is mixed with rocks, is not yet fertile.
  5. Bedrock is the foundational rock that deteriorates over time.
