Solution

a. The nature of the image formed is real and inverted.

b. Given, u = −24 cm, f = 8 cm

`1/v - 1/u = 1/f`

Substituting the values we get,

`1/v - 1/-24 = 1/8`

`1/v +1/24 = 1/8`

`1/v = 1/8 - 1/24`

`1/v = (3 - 1)/24`

`1/v = 2/24`

`1/v = 1/12`

v = 12 cm
