Find the sum of total surface area of the three parts as shown in Figure 2. Given, the radius of the capsule is 3.5 cm and the length of the cylindrical block is 14 cm.

Height of Cylinder h = 14 cm

Radius of cylinder (r) = 3.5 cm

Surface area of the capsule = Curved surface area of cylinder + curved surface area of two hemispheres

= 2πrh + 2πr2 + 2πr2

= 2πrh + 4πr2

2πr (h + 2r)

`2 × 22/77 × 3.5 (14 + 2 × 3.5)`
