Solution

Step 1: Determine the number of discs that can be cut along the length of the sheet

The length of the sheet is 11 cm.

The diameter of each circular disc is 0.5 cm.

Number of discs along the length = `"Length of sheet"/"Diameter of disc"`

Number of discs along the length = `(11  cm)/(0.5  cm)` = 22 discs.

Step 2: Determine the number of discs that can be cut along the width of the sheet

The width of the sheet is 2 cm.

The diameter of each circular disc is 0.5 cm.

Number of discs along the width = `"Width of sheet"/"Diameter of disc"`

Number of discs along the width = `(2  cm)/(0.5  cm)` = 4 discs.

Step 3: Calculate the total number of discs

To find the total number of discs, multiply the number of discs that can fit along the length by the number that can fit along the width.

Total number of discs = Number of discs along length × Number of discs along width

Total number of discs = 22 × 4 = 88 discs.

The number of discs that can be prepared is 88.
