Solution
Given:
Power generated (\(P\)) = \(200\text{ MW} = 200 \times 10^6\text{ W} = 200,000,000\text{ W}\)
Generating e.m.f. (\(V\)) = \(40,000\text{ V}\)
Formula:
Electric Power (P) is the product of voltage (V) and current (I):
\(P=V\times I\)
\[I=\frac{P}{V}\]
\[=\frac{200,000,000}{40,000}\]
\[=\frac{20,000}{4}\]
\(I={5,000}\text{\ A}\)
The magnitude of the current produced by the power house is 5,000 A (or 5 kA).
