Given ∠1 = 53°

Clearly ∠1 and ∠2 are interior angles on the same side of the transversal and so they are supplementary.

∠1 + ∠2 = 180°

53° + ∠2 = 180°

53° + ∠2 – 53° = 180° – 53°

∠2 = 127°
