Question
A pendulum of length 14 cm oscillates through an angle of 18°. Find the length of its path.

Solution
Let S be the length of the path described by the extremity of the pendulum.
Then S = r·θ
where r = 14 cm and θ = 18°
= `(18 xx pi/180)^"c"`
= `pi^"c"/10`
∴ S = `14 xx pi/10`
= `(7pi)/5`
= `(7 xx 3.14)/5`
= `(21.98)/5`
= 4.4 cm. ...(approx.)
Hence, length of the path= 4.4 cm. ...(approx).
