Working Model of a Nuclear Power Plant

Aim: To understand how heat produced by nuclear fission is converted into electrical energy.

Materials Required: Cardboard, coloured paper, small plastic bottles, straws/tubes, toy motor, LED, wires, glue and markers.

Procedure:

  1. Make a reactor using a small box and represent nuclear fuel inside it.
  2. Connect it to a steam generator using a straw or tube.
  3. Connect the steam generator to a turbine represented by a small fan.
  4. Connect the turbine to a generator (toy motor) and LED.
  5. Label the parts: Reactor → Steam Generator → Turbine → Generator → Electricity.

Working; In the model, nuclear fission produces heat. The heat converts water into steam. The steam rotates the turbine, which drives the generator and produces electricity.

Conclusion: The model demonstrates the basic process of generating electricity in a nuclear power plant.
