Solution

Let x be the age of the girl.

Then, age of her father = (x + 28) yr

According to the question,

∴ x + (x + 28) = 50

⇒ 2x + 28 = 50

⇒ 2x = 50 – 28

⇒ 2x = 22

⇒ x = `22/2` = 11 yr

Hence, the age of the girl is 11 yr and age of her father’s age is (11 + 28), i.e. 39 yr.
