Solution

Shortest distance is the perpendicular distance between the point of application of force and the turning point.

Moment of force = Force × ⊥ distance

∴ 420 Nm = 525 N × ⊥ distance

∴ ⊥ distance = \[\frac{420}{525}\]

= 0.8 m
