Solution

Given:

Height of the cone, h = 5 cm

Diameter of the base = 4 cm

Radius of the base, r = 2 cm

Volume of a right circular cone

V = `1/3 πr^2h`

V = `1/3 xx π xx (2)^2 xx 5`

V = `1/3 xx π xx 4 xx 5`

V = `(20π)/3`

Using π = `22/7`

V = `(20 xx 22)/(3 xx 7)`

V = `440/21`

V = 20.95 cm3

The conical paper cup can hold approximately 21 cm3 of water.
