Solution

Given: Q = 200 J, m = 100 g = 0.1 kg and ΔT = 8°C = 8 K

Formula: $$c = \frac{Q}{m\Delta T}$$

$$= \frac{200}{0.1 \times 8}$$

$$= \frac{200}{0.8}$$

= 250 J kg−1 K−1

Therefore, the specific heat capacity of the metal is 250 J kg−1 K−1 or 0.25 J g−1°C−1.
