उत्तर
Spectrum is the band of colours obtained on a screen when white light passes through a prism and splits into its constituent colours. The colours of the spectrum are violet (V), indigo (1), blue (B), green (G), yellow (Y), orange (O), and red (R).
The order of the spectrum is VIBGYOR.

Describe an activity to show that colours of white light splitted by a glass prism can be recombined to get white light by another identical glass prism. Also draw ray diagram to show the recombination of the spectrum of white light.
A student is observing a diagram showing the path of a ray of light passing through a glass prism. He would find that for all angles of incidence the ray of light bends:
Define the term dispersion of white light.
In the figure given alongside, a narrow beam of white light is shown to pass through a triangular glass prism. After passing through the prism, it produces a spectrum YX on the screen.
State the colour seen (i) at X, and (ii) at Y.
Make two diagrams to explain refraction and dispersion.

(B) Only ∠i and ∠A
(C) ∠i, ∠r and ∠A
(D) ∠i, ∠A and ∠D

- Which colour light rays bend least.
- What is the wavelength of violet light rays?
The angle of deviation through a prism is minimum when

- Incident rays and emergent rays are symmetric to the prism.
- The refracted ray inside the prism becomes parallel to its base.
- The angle of incidence is equal to that of the angle of emergence.
- When the angle of emergence has doubled the angle of incidence.
